Bing Feedback

A lot of internet users have tried Bing since it was released by Microsoft in June 2009. There has been mixed reviews about Bing in comparison to Google, especially in terms of search results and result qualities.
We found a blind test where you can actually test to see which search engine you actually prefer. Whether it be Bing, Google, or Yahoo! Be sure to come back and post your results.
Please leave your feedback for Bing here.

I liked Bing from the begining, because there was no crap with it. If I want the news, weather etc I can go get it. But bing now has banners, I fear its just the begining. Don’t screwup my Bing
bing sucks; msft sucks
I am really into Search Engine Optimization. Great post and I would check back again soon!
If I Google “computer repair, Anderson, Indiana” I’m on the first page, but if I Bing the same, I can’t find my site at all, and it’s hoste by Microsoft Office Online! What’s that about?
I HATE BING!
YES I DO!
I HATE BING!
HOW ABOUT YOU????
WE SIT AND NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING,
BUT ALL WE GET IS STUPID BING.
THERES NOTHING INFORMATIONAL
WHILE GOOGLE IS SENSATIONAL!!!!
I HATE BING!
YES I DO!
I HATE BING!
HOW ABOUT YOU????
WHEN I AM LOOKING FOR A FACT
BING JUST STOPS ME IN MY TRACKS!
I SEARCH AND SEARCH AND FIND NOTHING
AND ALL THIS HAPPENS THANKS TO BING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BING is so terrible and I hate it so much!!! You should just shut down your website forever!! I hate you almost as much as I hate our national debt!!! Thats a lot of hate!! Like 14 trillion dollars of hate! GIVE ME BACK GOOGLE YOU HEATHEN!!!!!
AGREED!!!!
I hate bing so much! I raged in Economics class because bing sucked so much and caused me to not do well on a project!! You seriously suck more than any website I have ever been on before and I hate you! GIVE ME BACK GOOGLE!!! BING SUCKS!!!
The Bing bar causes IE to open in a different position. Normally I like my initial browsing window to open at a given position on my screen. With earlier versions of IE this was a joke and it just opened where ever it thought it should but IE8 and IE9 I was able to keep this happening by always making sure the last window I closed was in that position.
Once I installed the Bing bar the first browsing window I open is always in the next cascaded postion down and to the right from the last position it was closed from. Every time I close the last remaining window no matter where it’s positioned the next time I open a browsing window it will not come back in that same position but in the next cascaded position down and to the right.
Why does the Bing bar have any effect on my browser position? This probably seems like a trivial problem to many people but it’s a show-stopper for me and I’ll be removing the bar until it’s fixed.
Hey, loving the Bing bar but have a request. The Facebook notifier doesn’t update. It only clears notifications if I read them INSIDE the Bing bar. All my other devices sync and so remove notifications if I’ve read them on another device. Surely the Bing bar could do this as well…?
BING SUCKS!
OF COURSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT. ITS FREAKING BING!!! I HATE IT.
I am getting

I hate you BING!!! Hate you, hate you and HATE YOU!!! Why do you force your crap to people who don´t want it? First I thought that I had gotten some virus in my computer since my homepage had changed from Google (which I love btw) to Bing but then i realized that I probably just got is as an unwanted gift with some program I had installed. Well the trick is I didn´t found any help how to uninstall that crap and I had to really search before I got rid of Bing. Of course I know how to change my browsers homepage but still every new tab was friking BING!!! Luckily I found a Modzilla add on that helped me get rid of that crap. So angry that this stuff is forced to me. If you really want people to start using your search you should not force it. I just hate everything that is forced. No way I´ll ever use this search!
The new Bing html5 design is ugly.
Please redesign to metro ui or back to normal.
i have the bing search bar installed at top of my IE9. i cannot copy and paste text into the search field (on the bing bar)… why?
I can not access anything on the toolbar (games, rewards, or feedback) since upgrading to the new toolbar. And all my old favorite games are not there anymore. Would love to get them back as well keep the new ones.
Bing is not showing me search suggestions recently why is this ?
preferences are default
I’m using yahoo reader incidentally which wall stickers it correctly.
no results only get Fred Bare or Sony yet wanted this site
I love you BING!!!! I typically will not leave customer feedback. I feel that there are enough people who do that already and I would not make a difference. But, when I find a product that I am REALLY (stress really in all caps)satisfied with I will go out of my way and my norm. BING is one of those products. I can only remember one other (O.J. that tasted like “fresh-squeezed” – and it REALLY tasted like fresh-squeezed orange juice!!!!!!). Well, BING you have joined a short list in my world. I have never used a search engine (including GOOGLE) that seemed to know exactly what I meant with minimal wording. Microsoft you have REALLY raised the bar – BING I don’t know how you know but you always seem to know what I mean. Keep doing what you do!!! I LOVE YOU BING!!!!!
News items on the Bing homepage should give a short summary (2-3 lines) when hovering over link.
Very much like the search page vs. Google.
My problem with bing on my iphone is the load time. It takes 8-10 seconds to load, where my google app takes less than 3.
Hi,
This is one of those bing vs. google rants.
Go to
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2008/08/12/8849519.aspx
This is part one of the article. Lets find the rest. Copy the title
“The implementation of iterators in C# and its consequences” and paste it into the seach box on the right, hit Enter – ouch, nothing is found!
Open bing, paste the title (with or without quotes), first 2 links are relevant.
google – first 4 links are to 4 relevant posts.
Not good enough.
Hi Bing team,
Its really refreshing to see a different background picture in your search engine.I just wanted to suggest one thing. Please try to mention the name or place of the background picture as it will make people enjoy the scene in a complete way!
All the best!!
2 things
1. bing is still missing an equivalent to google’s ‘updates’
2. Site previews on bing (arrow next to each search result) is useless ; must be improved
Hater!
Can’t automatically open a new tab when I search using the Bing toolbar. This is a huge flaw. I’ve tried to find the answer online. For firefox, if you use alt-enter it will open your search in a new tab.
Also you can’t visit this page using IE9 Beta.. It crashes, even with compatibility mode on.

The loyola university medical center’s phone number has been incorrectly listed on this website for 6 months or more. It is impossible to contact an actual human being at bing to correct this information, and numerous reports of this incorrect information have done nothing. I am shocked that, as a search engine, you would not take more value in listing correct information at all times. The phone number for loyola university medical center is 708-216-9000. Please fix it!
when displaying a map (nyc), show mass transit stations (subway, LIR & nj transit). Perhaps, it should also be done in other cities.
i have been trying to reach someone in either the customer service/tech support of bing to no avail. everytime i leave a comment on bing feedback i get an error msg. this is getting to be ridiculous not being able to reach someone. there is erroneous info on bing relating to the doctor that i am office mgr for. please contact me urgently. this is detrimental to our business.
Very good article post.Really thank you! Want more.
Did you morons seriously ok a commercial that glorifies leaving your spouse? I normally don’t use profanity, but what the fuck? Can you actually justify making a commercial that glamorizes stealing someone else wife? I will say apparently you tried and hence why I will never touch any microsoft product again.
made bing my homepage and i am disappointed. had clicked on an article about babies born in the zoo this morning (5/11/2010) and the far right side of the write up on each picture was cut off. what gives? Come on Bing, I am rooting for you but you really need to get your act together. absolutely nothing wrong with my computer..access on google, yahoo, aol all intact and every article readable…not cut off on edge. gee and I really wanted to read about each baby…
The shopping frame of the credit card to cash. The excellent realization trader in the whole country was made a ranking site.
Crap, Useless compared to google, its very convinient in the way that it shows the crapper less used websites first, plus, guys, the logo? Sort it out…
Why is Bing opening a page of search results when I click on a link in a news story? This is most irritating. I just want to go to the link, not a bunch of search results which I have to now look through to find the story I clicked on.
I wish that there was a setting to turn off the search results when clicking on a hyperlink.
I am removing Bing for now as it is very irritating.
Hi bing team,
This is regarding all-hyphenated domain names. It is known that currently (-) hyphen in the domain names are considered as space separating keywords during search operations and results are displayed accordingly. But, considering the fact that domain names with all the possible keywords with and without (-) hyphens being already registered, it is either very expensive or impossible to acquire a decent domain name. My suggestion is if you can come up with a solution wherein a string of three or more individual letters separated by (-) hyphens will be considered as continuous letters for keyword parsing, it would open up a whole new choices of domain names and give a great impetus to the internet’s growth. Ex. d-o-m-a-i-n-n-a-m-e.com can be identified as domainname.com during search results. Of course, this will lead to lengthy domain names. But, we will be having many a choice, at least twice that of currently registered domain names ! This would be enough to take care of the domain names for another decade or two. You can think of some way out regarding trademark domain names with all-hyphenated like y-a-h-o-o.com, g-o-o-g-l-e.com, b-i-n-g.com etc., by including a disclaimer that they are not the official websites of the company. If you can manage to make the suggestion come true, it would enormously increase the choice of domain names and would be nothing short of a path-breaking trend in search engine as well as domain name industry. Let the future have some choice of domain names !
Thanking you in advance :)
Guys, I am a little picky here but I just want bing it to be better :)
I remember seeing a 22 minute windows phone 7 video on msdn through a link from some gadget review site and I had forgotten where it was from. But I remembered that the gadget site mentioned about msdn and 22 minutes.
When I tried to bing for “22 minute + msdn”, it did not return the relevant result but when I googled for “22 minute + msdn” i promptly returned what I was searching for as the very first result. It was great! Google guessed what I was searching for and it is probably based on trend that many recent web page es recently have the phrase {22 minute | msdn | technet | windows phone 7} together (or could be something else).
This is one aspect which really stops me from using Bing in scenarios where I want to search something based with scarcely available data.
I think Microsoft built a mistyped web address to take me to “bing”
I use Verizon DSL, but since Microsoft added “updates” to my IE.
A mis type web address takes me to a bing page.
(I remove bing as a search engine and have only goggle.)
Here’s MS hiding code to give them a market advantage.
I am a MS Partner and I hate them.
They are money grubbing, power hungry pigs!
Well, I’ll never use Bing for sure—-just because all day long there’s been a damned popup for it on my puter on different webpages—-way too friggin annoying for me to have any respect for it or want to investigate it.
1) As a developer using microsoft technologies i still tend to prefer google as the search engine :-( and the primary reason is because i use advance search operators to find stuff + – AND OR’s etc. However, google typically returns items in the header text of the search results and highlights the matches…making it easier for me to spot my requirements.

When I searched on the term General CADD, I quickly found a pirate software site selling my company’s program for a token price. I don’t appreciate this and I don’t think you would like them selling Windows for a token price through your search engine. Can you exclude the pirate software sites from your search engine?
Jim,
In your situation I would suggest that you undergo the proper legal means to prosecute the pirate software site. We at Bing Develop does not have the means to change the search results, because we are not in anyways affiliated with Bing or Microsoft Corporations.
It would be best to contact Bing or Microsoft with your specific request directly. I would recommend that you start with this link http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/cu_inventory
In any case, I would still recommend you to under go the proper legal procedures and speak to a legal adviser.
Also, I like to point out that on Bing your site is still the first listing in the result page. I don’t think they were aware that the software of the other site were a pirate version. The other site simply had a good SEO and it is relevant to your search case, however, I am very confident that if you inform Bing & Microsoft, they will take the proper procedures to assist your case.
A small website showed up in Bing search results about 2 weeks ago. Because I found some of the rankings odd and the results sometimes inconsistent (some similar to “Calvin” results #3), I sent some feedback via feedback.discoverbing.com.
Two weeks later, the website does not show up in the search results anymore. Completely gone, eliminated. Nothing was changed to the site during that time. The feedback was formulated in a critical but polite way. Conclusion : is it dangerous to critize Bing ?
Piet, in this case what happens is mostly likely that the website is newly developed on an old domain.
When a webmaster purchases or start to developing a new web domain, the search engines, either Bing, yahoo, or google, will initially index the website with very high search engine result page
(SERP) rankings.
however, after several weeks, when the search engine begin to index again, the ranking usually drops because lack of either back links, search engine optimization techniques, and lack of new contents.
generally, you want to have a website that has periodic new/fresh contents
Another point to make is that Bing has a very strong filter for search results.
For example, when you search “Bing” on bing.com you will only get results. all other results are filtered. but if google “bing” you will get a page full of results.
So far what I notice is that Google is friendly with newly developed contents. When we first launch Bing Develop, google indexed our website within days. Bing was a little bit slower to index.
On google, our page have already top page ranks with our targeted keywords. however on Bing we where not able to achieve the same results. mainly because Bing gives websites with more history higher ranking. which in my opinion is not a bad idea. so our rankings on being will take time to go up.
So, when does Europe (Belgium) has some functionality like the USA?
We are tired of getting placed behind…
Walter, it is very unfortunate that the full functionality of Bing is not made available to Belgium. The main reason behind this decision is probably due to European legal issues, network functionality, and back end service integration. We, at Bingdevelop, don’t know exactly when these features will be available, but we will start asking questions and the answer for you as soon as possible.
You can always change you Bing setting. Go to Bing.com, change your country setting (top right corner) to United States and you will have full access to Bing features.
I got more ads on BING than I wanted and were unrelated to my search and I’m not in love with Google and I hate yahoo, but Google still gives me what I want, with the non related items on the bottom of the page.
It would be nice if someone made something like Google has gotten closest to with a simple search, with a menu on the side that can narrow by some key words from the search already listed from the search or something like that. We hate typing more in searches or changeing words in the search
I tried the comparison and got Google 3 out of 5 and Bing could find anything in one of my searches and Yahoo did the same on another.
I’m sure you will be number one someday but the pages will be full of spam & ads, so I’ll stick to Google for now. Just Like your ad on this page for Google Chrome & Full Sail Univ. What the heck is that, a preview of whats to come?
Please stop those darn comercials we get! We get your there! Anyone with a computer knows it now. Use the money to feed the homeless… Gezzz
Jonathan,
Jonathan, thank you for your comments. Bing might appear to have more ads because of the way it is designed.
I did a quick test comparing Bing & Google
Car -Bing 5 ads/Google 5 ads
Money -Bing 7 ads/Google 8 ads
Christmas -Bing 3 ads/Google 1 ad
The results from my sample test is not enough to say which search engine puts on more ad. You maybe right or maybe because we are all accustomed to Google’s layout that we unconsciously block out the ads through our viewing habits.
In terms of the ads that you saw on this page, we decided it to place it in an attempt to recover our monthly hosting cost.
We write articles at BingDevelop because we are interested in the development of the Bing search engine. Our goal is not to profit from this site. I have a full time job at a computer hardware company and I run my personal company, Reach Connection Solutions Inc., as a part-time gig. I am devoting my time on this site because of personal interest.
Anyways, thanks a lot for your feedback and in the future we will write more articles about Google, Yahoo, Cuil, and Wolfram Alpha with a neutral perspective.
The blind test I introduced will produce results that varies depending on your search query. I personally won’t judge whether Bing is better than Google or if Google is better than Bing. Different people have different preferences. Here is what I think why Bing is better.
-Video previews
-Local listings
-Cash back program
-Related searches

This is an interesting one.
Yahoo only gave out two results which are “Microsoft Bing” on webpronews.com and “Video: Introducing Bing” on techcrunch.com.
Bing gave out 5 results. The first one is what I wanted, which is bingdevelop.com. The second one is facebook.com/Bing. The second and third one are the same as Yahoo’s, and the last one is “Bing vs Google vs Yahoo” on a random site.
GOOGLE, which showed 8 results (I’m sure there are more in the next page), gave THREE results related to bingdevelop.com.
- The first one is bingdevelop.com.
- The second one is Bing Feedback on bingdevelop.com/feedback.This is more convenient for me.
- And the third one is “Yang Weng (bingdevelop) on Twitter” on twitter.com/bingdevelop. Google showed your name!
Clearly, Google kicked their *sses.
and all the results Bing provided are related to the word “Calvin”, no signs of “Calvik” at all. It thought I mistyped the word.
I wanted to check something on Air Canada homepage. So I searched “ac” on google.ca, and the homepage of Air Canada was the first result that came up. How convenient.
Then I searched “ac” on Bing with the option “only from Canada” checked. The first result I got was “AC-Cubed 2007 – HOME”, which is a annual anime convention in Ottawa, and I couldn’t find the homepage of Air Canada in the first 10 pages of results.
Calvin, when I searched for AC on google, the first result was a wikipedia article on Alternating Current and Air Canada was the 2nd result. When I bing, the same article came up as well, however Air Canada did not show up.
When you select your preference to view results from Canada only, AC-Cubed 2007 – Home is indeed the result.
However, if you search for “Air Canada” both bing & google will produce the same results, but if you try it on Bing, you will see related search items on the side bar, as well your search results are put into different categories.
I agree with you on the fact that Bing is not Google, but Bing is different because of its unique features.
I this case I think AC can be an acronym for many things, and Google just happen to interpret it as Air Canada, I am certain in other search cases the result will be different. In any case, everyone should spend some time on Bing and discover the features themselves.
Hi BingDevelop,
On my browser, Air Canada is the first result that came up. I guess it’s because of the difference in preferences.
I still prefer Google, and it’s very difficult for Bing to take over Google’s position in my preference. I’m not saying which one is better or which one is worse,I’m just too used to use Google. Google has been my homepage for more than 4 years, and using a different homepage really bothers me.
I have used Bing for a couple of times now. Since Bing is right on the top of IE, “Bing it” is just a lot faster than opening a new tab and “Googe it”. The case of searching “ac” is the second time that happned to me. I don’t remember what I searched on the the first time, but Bing just gave a completely different and wrong answer.
There are a couple of greate sites that offer “Search Google and Bing at the same time”. Are you trying to make something like that and put it under this tab or getting someone else’s?
Hey BingDevelop
“I agree with you on the fact that Bing is not Google, but Bing is different because of its unique features. ”
Yes Bing is a decision engine, and decides that AC is to mean “AC-Cubed 2007 – Home” in Canada, a smart decision!!
But Google is a search engine, and its results to “homepage of Air Canada”…
BingDevelop, can you see the difference? One is bad-decision and the other is very relevant and good search result. In any area making decision with very little knowledge is dangerous.
Beside please don’t try to defend Bing, always the customer is right, that attitude is what makes MS behind the game.
You are absolutely right. Bing needs a lot improvements and it is still playing catch up to google.
Bing is definitely not a par with Google in terms of search results 100%. However it is competitive because of things like Cashback program & the wall paper.
We are not trying to defend Bing and speak badly about Google. Google is no doubt King of Search. It is fast and it has a lot market advantages in market. It has a great engine, a strong presence on the Internet, and we even use Google ads because Microsoft adCenter is only available in the U.S.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and contribution to the discussion.

I found bing to be great for short (5 words or less) queries. Google did better on longer queries.
